What you'll learn in this dye class:
We’re hosting another Distill Creative Night at Kings County Distillery! We’ll be drinking cocktails and doing our favorite craft—shibori indigo dyeing—outside on the patio. Why? Because we love cocktails and we love crafts and we love being outside.
Come make a craft with Distill Creative and a cocktail on the house! Enjoy the outdoor patio and go home with a shibori indigo dyed tea towel or t-shirt. You’ll also get a free ticket to come back for a behind-the-scenes tour of Kings County Distillery so you can see how your new favorite local whiskey is made.
Kings County Distillery is New York City's oldest whiskey distillery, specializing in authentic, small batch bourbon. Originally a homemade product, our whiskey is made by a small team of master distillers in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. It’s a ten minute walk from the Distill Creative Studio, so they are as local as it gets.
Shibori is a Japanese style of resist dyeing that involves twisting, tying, binding, folding, and other manipulation of fabric. We will cover classic techniques and guide you to create your own unique designs.
INCLUDES
- All materials need to shibori indigo dye
- Your choice of a tea towel or t-shirt to dye. You can also bring your own item (must be 100% cotton, linen, or silk)
- Ticket for tour of Kings County Distillery (to use at a future date)
- House cocktail
- Personalized instruction
Note:
- This event is BYOB for those over 21.
- Wear comfortable clothing and if class involves paint or dye, clothing that you are ok with getting dirty or have a cover-up/apron.
Refund Policy
- We can only give a full refund if the class is canceled within 6 business days of the event.
- We can give attendees credit to a future class or workshop. If it is a special event or a collaboration workshop, we may not be able to give credit.
In the event that an instructor or the school needs to cancel at the last minute, students will receive a refund less a 5% non-refundable registration fee.

This class was so informative and fun! We learned different shibori and dying techniques and were then let loose to dip with creative freedom. All of my pieces came out fabulously and I cannot wait to dye with indigo again! Stephanie's enthusiasm for her craft is infectious and it was also fascinating to hear about her time spent learning about natural dying in Oaxaca. The patio at Kings County Distillery was the perfect backdrop for a very special and artistic evening.
